The finals

17 08 2008

So, Malaysia’s dream of getting the first gold medal didn’t come true in Olympics 2008. Let’s see what everyone has to say about this game.

“Lee Chong Wei, you made us proud!”
- He’s still world no.2 anyway, right?

“Lose like shyt …”
- True.

“Silver better than nth …”
- Also true though.

“Chong Wei lostt~~”

- Just a factual statement. Hehe. Neutral enough.

“Not a good timing for chong wei … dun cry yea”
- This is pretty consoling. Not bad.

“Malaysia badminton sinks like titanic”
- This one sounds pretty exaggerating …

“so sad …”
“sian diao …”

- I’m not sure whether these 2 are related to the game anyway.

“没看头,成绩相差整倍的决赛”
- I guess this one is the best, reflecting what I thought too.

“China dota geng, badminton geng, mat lan dou geng”
- Oh well, after all they have the world largest population …

“And all the Malaysians go aiyoooooh”
- This is pretty funny … true enough!

Frankly speaking, I wished I didn’t used up my few hundred mbs to stream and watch online because it’s seriously quite a boring lopsided badminton match, not to mention it was finals! Disappointing. Where was those exciting matches we used to have? Anyway, it’s over. So, chill people~!! Don’t tell me about wanting to kill Lindan alright? LOL!

P.s. Paiseh Zy, almost uploaded your phone number. Just erased it. =P

小故事

16 08 2008

Updates

14 08 2008

Insomnia again, which always lead me to blogging, as usual. It’s pretty late now, I wonder whether I can get up for 9am lecture tomorrow.

Why insomnia? I don’t know. My brain just couldn’t rest, and out of all things, I’ve started to think about the deceased, not just late grandma, but all others that have left me during certain time of my life. Ok, I know, I better stop here before this post gets depressing …

Winter can be so gloomy and miserable. Apparently it’s about the coldest time of the year right now. Nothing below 5-6 degrees, and maximum’s still above 10 degrees. I know it doesn’t seem to be the coldest winter as compared to elsewhere in the world, but still, you should experience it, especially when it has been raining on and off almost everyday lately, with the chilly wind blowing the cold water droplets towards your face when it’s already freezing cold … grrr … Melbourne’s wind is mad!

Enough of complaints about weather. Let’s talk about academics. Gen Wealth (History of world economy) is dominating my life and it’s getting really sad because there’s so much to read and no matter how hard I try I still couldn’t catch up. I’m such a lousy reader. And I still remain silent during this subject’s tutorial, not because I don’t dare to speak out but I seriously don’t know what to share about. Knowledge of history = 0, examples = 0, spontaneity of thoughts = 0, how?

Anyway, today has been pretty rewarding. A very spontaneous attempt of something, pretty unexpected I must say, let’s see whether it can get me anywhere. Nonetheless, it’s a great experience, and surprisingly I really enjoyed every minute of it. =)

Lovely Dates:
18/8 - Intro Macroeconomics test;
21/8 - 1000 words (Gen Wealth);
25/8 - BPA (Business Process Analysis) assignment, seems really complicated;
27/8 - Gen Wealth tut presentation;
3/9 - Into Macro assignment 1 …
and the list goes on.

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with me for not being able to sleep when I can afford to right now? Next time, the case might me I need sleep desperately but deterred by the workload? Oh no … =.=

I can foresee a hectic semester ahead.
I better get my beauty sleep now before it’s too late.

Sigh

10 08 2008

Life is dreadful …

when the previous goodbye turns out to be the last goodbye ever

when I’m stuck far far away from home in the Down Under

when you start to realize how fragile life is

when you start to realize anything can happen at anytime

and nothing is everlasting.

I’m a granddaughter no more.

有多久

7 08 2008

Sem 2

4 08 2008

Week 2 of Semester 2 has just started. And there are still many choices to be made.

- Should I get a job to fill in my free time?
- Or should I get myself involved in some activities?
- Do you think I can cope with 10 deadlines over Week 4 to Week 10 if I plan engage into some other commitments? (Proof of lack of confidence + laziness =.=)
- Should I change my tutorial class? I would like a better tutor but there’s this really nice tutorial mate there =P

Just some thoughts. I might just leave them all aside later on.

For this semester, I’ve bravely taken up this breadth subject called “Generating the Wealth of Nations”. Why do I call it a courageous attempt? Readings for lectures and tutorial are about 1.25 inches thick over 12 weeks, the tutorials are presentation based (like having ESL tutorial + discussion every week!), and there are some assignments, which include one similar to last year’s ESL research paper. Finally, the main contents of this subject is, mainly, the history of world economy.

By the way, for this subject, we had this really great lecture today by Professor Greg Clark, from Uni of California, Davis. An economist with a Harvard PhD. (Wow …) And I can tell you, it’s a really awesome 1 hour lecture one can ever ask for. I can’t possibly elaborate about what I’ve learnt, but I think I’ll look forward to more guest lectures over the semester. The knowledge is fun!

For those who wonder whether I survived Melbourne’s winter after hot hot Malaysian weather, I can tell you, it’s still quite alright. Cold but not too cold, it’s just the wind and showers that can get really frustrating. Anyway, nothing to complain, as there shouldn’t be anything below 0 degrees in Melbourne. (Or at least, in Melbourne CBD)

As you can see, I’ve nothing much to blog about actually, and my frequency of updates will get lesser (hopefully, I should have better things to do), but I’ll drop by to tell the world that I’m still alive from time to time.

Some random pictures of FOOD!

Steak + Fried Potatoes + Boiled Broccoli

A meal of balance diet, my dinner for the first weekend after I came back to Melb, all fully prepared and cooked by Chen Hao. Not bad right? (Oh no, he better not read this, after sure Syok Sendiri =P )

Home-cooked Bak Kut Teh

Cooked by … SmartPot? Haha. Pei Wen’s new asset brought back from M’sia. Ingredients consist of: Pork meat, mushrooms, packet of herbs, lettuce, hard-boiled eggs, carrots (which someone kept complaining that it shouldn’t be part of the dish), Erm, can’t remember what else.

That’s all for now (and sorry for making you hungry) …

Happy Birthday~!!

30 07 2008

My first dedication is to Mr. Yew, turning 19 this year. Glad to see that you (and others) are having a great time in NUS. Remember, don’t miss home too much, because anytime I’m way further from home than you. Haha. Have a great semester ahead, we’ll all gather half a year later. =)

There’s nothing much I can give you right now, but there’s something interesting to share.

Remember this day? It was exactly 2 yrs + 1 day ago, back in year 2006!

Happy Birthday to Kian Wei~!!
Hope that you will enjoy your first birthday away from home. All the best!!

* * *

Next birthday baby on the list, will be Mei Shan, who’s turning 18 this year. Hehe, finally, we should bring you to Casino one day?

I guess, the only thing I can say is, thanks for everything …

For being around when I don’t know who to look for in uni. (Meishan!! Where are you??) For being just a phone call away when I need help, whether it’s related to academics or when I just need to rant or crap about anything. For spreading the HIGH-ness and pleasure around. And of course for providing your house when I need to hide away from the busy city. Haha.

I’ve to say sorry and paiseh when occasionally I also can’t help but to crap along when ppl start zat-ing you, but I’m sure you won’t mind right, afterall most of the time I treat you so well =P (or so I hope …)

Hope you have a great birthday for the rest of the day after you have had a good rest on my bed while I’m typing this right now =P.

Virus Attack!

28 07 2008

Unfortunately, my computer has been attacked by some unknown virus named Virus Apache Mereng. I started searching for it online and come to realize that most of the articles about it are in Malay? Only then I figured out that the virus is possibly originated from Indonesia. There’s this article here about it, but the steps to eliminate the virus didn’t work for me.

My situation now is (after reading through the article above):

1) C:/ApacheMereng.js and C:/AuToRuN.inf can no longer be found in my computer. Which is supposed to be a good thing.
2) But I can’t find anything named gpedit.msc anywhere in my computer, and definitely not in System32, hence I have no idea what are the following steps about.
3) And Folder Options is still missing from my Control Panel!
4) Can’t enter my Local Disk C: from My Computer. The only alternative I’ve found is to use open Windows Explorer through another drive (let’s say, D: Drive) then click to C: at the left column.

Geez. Maybe I shouldn’t complain. At least everything else of my laptop is still functioning normally.

Anyone out there can help?

Stalker?

26 07 2008

Imagine receiving an email with only one sentence that says,

“U live at xxxxxxxx, studying BComm Yr1 Sem 2 & member of mubss”

That’s all. No hi, no self-introduction, nothing, just THAT. What ya think? And I don’t even know this guy in person!! Although I know this person is sort of my friend’s friend, but then, isn’t there any better way to communicate and get to know one another? Don’t you think such a phrase gives a “I know everything about you, beware” creepy feeling??

Now I don’t even feel like replying the phrase above. What does the sender expect from a reply? Shocked? Impressed? Amazed? Freaked out? Mana tau …

By the way, I don’t live at where this person thinks I do. By just always appearing at a place doesn’t necessarily have to mean I live there right? Hoho.

P.s. Ehh, your friend arrr … =P

P.p.s. It’s always safe to use a different email account rather than your MSN email for official purposes.
